Get Off Your Stomach
If you’re swimming on your stomach, you will need to change this bad habit! Triathletes need all the energy they can get, and learning to swim on your side rather than swimming flat in the water will allow you to reserve your energy for the main part of the race. If you’re a stomach swimmer, you are using a lot of muscle to power through the water- as well as burning fuel you will need later!

Great tip! I just learned how to do this properly, and I have been swimming (not competitively) for 15years! It makes a huge difference in speed and efficiency. It also keeps you swimming in a straight line better~

Hey Matt,
Start by praticing kicking on your side, one hand extended out in front, belly button pointed towards the wall.
You can also check out my free course by signing up for the newsletter (upper right corner), and I get into some detail about the drills.
Good luck!

When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get several e-mails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thank you!

Hi there, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam remarks? If so how do you reduce it, any plugin or anything you can recommend? I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any help is very much appreciated.
